ACC SCALES DOWN CLEAR SPRINGS RATE INCREASE |
The Arizona Corporation Commission issued an order on January 13, 1998 to scale down a water rate increase requested by Clear Springs Utility Company. |
Under the new rates approved by the Commission, the average bill will increase 13 percent, from $13.86 to $15.66. The Company proposed rates would have increased the average bill 24 percent, from $13.86 to $17.21. |
"The approved rate by the Commission will permit Clear Springs to provide safe and reliable water service at the most affordable rate," Commissioner-Chairman Jim Irvin said. |

A comparison of the previous rates, Company proposed rates and Commission approved rates is as follows: |

Effectively, the only change in the rate design for most customers is that Clear Springs will charge for the first 1000 gallons that were previously included in the monthly charge. |

The rate increase will take effect for water used after February 1, 1998. Clear Springs is located in Sunsites, Arizona and serves approximately 450 customers. |
