$12.3 MILLION SULPHUR SPRINGS COOP BORROWING APPROVED BY COMMISSION
Arizona Corporation Commissioners have approved two financing applications by Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative totaling $12.3 million. Sulphur Springs has Commission authorization to borrow $8.6 million from the Rural Utilities Service, and $3.7 million from the Cooperative Finance Corporation. The funds will be used to construct new power lines, new feeder and tie lines, for pole replacement, and to reduce environmental impacts.
Commissioner Jim Irvin said, "This decision enables Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative to meet the needs of current and new customers as the coop prepares for growth into the next century."
Sulphur Springs serves some 37,000 customers in Cochise, Santa Cruz, Graham and Pima counties in southeastern Arizona.
