BULLIS NAMED CORPORATION COMMISSION CHIEF LEGAL COUNSEL |
||||
|
Paul A. Bullis has been named Chief Legal Counsel for the Arizona Corporation Commission. Bullis previously served as a Corporation Commission Chief Legal Counsel from 1991 through 1996, and was a Commission staff attorney from 1987 to 1991. Commission Chairman Jim Irvin announced the appointment, saying "We are very pleased to have someone with Paul Bullis' extensive experience in Arizona utility regulation to head our legal division. He added, "Paul Bullis already has a working knowledge of the issues before the Commission, as well as a personal acquaintance with the companies and consumer organizations who come before us. He is ideally qualified for this position." Commissioner Renz Jennings added, "Paul is a knowledgeable, intelligent and thoughtful lawyer, who returns to the Commission at a time when key decisions on electric and telephone competition are about to be made. It is critical that we have his kind of expertise and proven leadership for our legal division." During his previous service with the Corporation Commission, he played a key role in the development of Arizona telecommunications policy, litigated a number of major rate cases, and led the successful defense of numerous commission actions in state and federal court. Bullis graduated from the University of Arizona (with distinction, Phi Beta Kappa) in 1979, and received his law degree in 1982, graduating Cum Laude from Georgetown University. He has been a litigation associate with Beus, Gilbert and Morrill, PLLC during most of 1997. |
