ETHNIC, RACIAL AND RELIGIOUS GROUPS BECOME TARGETS OF FRAUD SCHEMES |
||||
|
Ethnic, racial and religious groups are becoming a growing target of fraudulent investment schemes according to the Arizona Corporation Commission. Jim Irvin, Chairman of the Corporation Commission, said," the sharing of ancestry, race or religion will not prevent fraud. Dishonest and greedy scam operators will use anything to take your money." Irvin added," the Commission is using its full legal authority to fight fraud and protect the public. However, the best defense against investor schemes is an aware and informed investor public." The Arizona Corporation Commission working with the Asian Chamber of Commerce and Rep. Barry Wong (R. District 18) are presenting an Investor Townhall to provide the necessary information to identify a fraudulent investment scheme. The educational forum will be held at the Chinese Senior Center, 734 W. Elm St., Phoenix on Saturday, December 13. The program will begin at 10 A.M. and includes several presentations by attorneys from the Securities Division of the Corporation Commission. The ninety-minute event is open to the public without charge and free parking is available across from the Center. For additional information, call the Corporation Commission at (602) 542-4242. |
