Commissioner Mundell Earns Seat on Consumer Affairs Committee

Phoenix, AZ -- Commissioner Bill Mundell, appointed to the Arizona Corporation Commission by Governor Jane Dee Hull, is an avid supporter of residential consumers and small businesses. His interest in consumer affairs earned him an appointment to the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners' (NARUC's) Committee on Consumer Affairs. Mundell will join a select group of 36 commissioners who serve on the Committee on Consumer Affairs. Approximately 420 utility commissioners from around the country belong to NARUC, based in Washington, DC.

"I am honored to be selected for this important committee. My position at the ACC requires me to render votes on such heady issues as electric deregulation and utility rates," Mundell explains. "My job is to make these decisions in the best interest of residential consumers and small businesses." He says that the Committee on Consumer Affairs will give him added insight into regulatory issues of national significance.

Mundell is one of three commissioners who oversee Arizona's public utilities, securities dealers, pipeline and railroad safety and the formation and registration of corporations doing business in Arizona. Governor Hull appointed Mundell to fill the commission seat vacated by Tony West in June of 1999. Mundell is a Republican and served in Arizona's House of Representatives from 1986 to 1992. Prior to his legislative term, he was presiding municipal judge in Chandler. Mundell also maintains a private law practice in Chandler.
