Commission Encourages Investors To Participate In Savings & Investment Month

PHOENIX – The Arizona Corporation Commission’s Securities Division is reaching out to investors during the month of April as part of Arizona Savings & Investment Month. Representatives from the Commission will take part in three major events this month to help promote financial literacy and encourage people to invest wisely. The schedule is as follows:

• April 8 – Presentations to the Future Business Leaders Association student conference at Marana Mountain View High School, north of Tucson. Topics include the "Basics of Saving and Investing" and "How to Outsmart the Swindlers." Open to FBLA students only.
• April 15 – Arizona State Capitol. The Commission’s Securities Division will exhibit investor education materials at an information booth. This day marks the official legislative resolution recognizing April as "Financial Literacy for Youth" month.

The Commissioners or Securities Division personnel are available to talk about any financial topic of interest to groups of 25 or more people. Some of the most popular topics include:

• Top 10 Scams, Schemes, & Scandals
• Getting Sound Advice: Choosing a Financial Adviser or Investment Broker
• Understanding Variable Annuities
• Mutual Funds: What You Should Know
• The Basics of Saving & Investing
