ACC EMPLOYEE RECOGNIZED BY ATTORNEY GENERAL

On Friday, April 30, as part of Victims Rights Week, the Attorney General's Office will recognize Investigator John T. Walsh of the Securities Division for his contributions and support of victims. Attorney General Janet Napolitano will be present to personally congratulate each honoree.

John has been the lead investigator on several cases which involved the Attorney General's Office of Victims Services. Two of the more recent cases are:

  • The Jeffrey Dreyfuss case, which involved a single victim who lost over $22,000. Dreyfuss is currently making restitution of the entire $22,000.
  • The James Ashpole (Black Diamond Mining) case, which had 33 victims of fraud. Ashpole was convicted of 39 felony counts on March 19, 1999 and will be sentenced on April 29, 1999.

Victims in both of the above cases have expressed their appreciation for John's investigative efforts, as well as his compassion for their plight.

It is through the efforts of employees such as John that the Securities Division maintains its reputation as one of the leading investment fraud investigative agencies in the country.
