Free Searches of Arizona Corporate Filing Data
STARPAS System Now Available to All for Free
& More Enhancements are Planned

PHOENIX - The Arizona Corporation Commission today announced that free searches of Arizona corporate information is available through the Internet. This completes a transition from a subscriber-only "pay-as-you-go" access program to one through which anyone with Internet access can look up information on corporations and LLCs doing business in Arizona. The web-based system launched on September 5 and received over 80,500 hits in its first week of testing. You can look up the information by clicking on the Commission's website at www.cc.state.az.us and then selecting Corporations Division.

Aside from the obvious benefit of allowing anyone free access to this valuable information, there are several other advantages to the new system. These advantages include:

Easier access than ever before - Now anyone from attorneys and private investigators to college students and researchers can look up corporate information with any Internet-enabled computer. Previously, subscribers to STARPAS had to use a dedicated line and password-protected system to access the data.

No specialized training is necessary - The web-based system is more intuitive and easier to search. Previously, users needed a fair amount of training to use the database.

No geographic limitations - Now anyone, anywhere can find valuable information about corporations and LLCs registered to do business in Arizona.

Faster searches - Corporate data can be sorted and searched much more quickly as a result of faster server speeds.

Information available through the website includes: corporate name and status; domestic address; statutory agent name and address; incorporation date; as well as what information, including annual reports, is on file at the Commission. The Corporations Division is planning additional enhancements to the system such as adding "quick click" access to recent annual reports. "This information is helpful to people who are starting a company and need to do a preliminary name search or for any individual who needs more information on corporations and limited liability companies who do business in this state," said Joanne MacDonnell, director of the Commission's Corporations Division. The Departments of Revenue, Economic Security, Banking, Real Estate and other state agencies are regular users of the system as well as the Attorney General's Office and FBI.

MacDonnell explained that the process of converting this information to an Internet-based system began more than two years ago. "I have to give credit to our staff who worked so hard, for so long to make it possible for everyone to have access to this valuable information. We haven't even publicized the availability of this information and we had 80,500 hits in the first week."

Commission Chairman Carl Kunasek tested the system and said: "Public access to information is something I have championed throughout my tenure as a Commissioner. We are making great strides toward informing the public through our website. I am pleased to see dedicated employees working to provide free access to corporate information."

Corporate filing forms and instructions on starting a corporation or limited liability company are also available on the website - and downloading is free. The website is www.cc.state.az.us. For more information about corporate filings or for copies of any specific documents, the public can call the Corporations Division at (602)542-3026 or toll free outside of Maricopa County at (800)345-5819. The Division's Tucson office can be reached at (520)628-6560.
