Energy Conservation Workshop Set For Flagstaff

PHOENIX - Many Northern Arizona residents have experienced a cooler than normal fall season and are bracing for a cold winter. While much has been written about restructuring the electric industry to allow for competition, this has drawn attention away from innovative programs designed to reduce energy consumption. The Arizona Corporation Commission is holding an informational workshop in Flagstaff on November 21 to address the following topics:

  1. What is being done elsewhere in the United States to encourage energy conservation and reduce demand;
  2. To have Arizona power utilities explain any current or proposed demand reduction or energy conservation programs and policies; and,
  3. To gather input from the public, Commission staff and the utilities on other approaches that could help reduce demand.

The two hour workshop will start at 3:00 p.m. at Flagstaff's Holiday Inn Express, 2320 East Lucky Lane. Chairman Carl Kunasek, Commissioner Jim Irvin and Commissioner Bill Mundell are expected to attend, along with representatives from Arizona's utilities.

For more information on the workshop, please call the Arizona Corporation Commission's Public Information Officer, Heather Murphy at 602-542-0844.
