Modest Revision Posted for Minimum Processing Standards

Today the Schools and Libraries Corporation posted a slightly modified version of its Minimum Processing Standards for Universal Service Fund applications. These Standards specify the circumstances under which an application will be summarily rejected. In the newly revised version, the Minimum Processing Standards indicate that Item 7 of Form 471 may be left blank on those applications which are exclusively for tariff services not under contract.

The Minimum Processing Standards are available on the Schools and Libraries Corporation Web Site under "471 Application Guidance" in the Reference Area (the direct URL is http://www.slcfund.org/reference/471ORminimump.asp). Applicants can also get a copy of the Standards by calling the toll-free help line, 888-203-8100. All are urged to read these standards carefully to be certain their applications comply before submission.

SPECIAL REMINDER: The SLC strongly encourages all schools and libraries to submit their Form 471 Applications in a correct and prompt manner. If you are hoping to file your Form 471 Application within the 75-day window, which closes on April 15, please do not wait until the last minute to do so. Remember, your application MUST BE RECEIVED by April 15, and it must pass the Minimum Processing Standards. The earlier we receive your Form 471, the better able we will be to work through with you any questions or problems that we see.
